Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (6/94)
Ruby-throats measure in at about 3 1/2" long and 1/10 ounce in weight. I spent many hours in my blind watching and photographing this amazing little bird. She and I had an agreement. I kept her feeder filled with fresh nectar, and she tolerated me, my blind - which was set up about 3 feet away from her feeder, my camera and 5 flash units. If you like these incredible little birds, check out this Hummingbird Website!

Sharp-Shinned Hawk
Sharp-Shinned Hawk (2/96)
This hawk visited a bird feeder, which is very close to my kitchen window, for a couple of weeks during the winter (probably looking for house finches). After observing him perching on the feeder pole several times one day, I set up my camera in the kitchen and waited for him to reappear... He did, and he posed for me for almost 20 minutes!

Canada Geese Canada Geese (7/95)
This photo was taken from the bank of the Delaware Canal, near Yardley, PA. The geese in this area are PLENTIFUL, to say the least. It is common in the spring to see several families hanging out together - with up to 50 or more young goslings. They are so used to people that they won't even move from the canal bank when someone comes by. They just raise their heads, honk alot, and expect you to go around them!

Great Blue Heron (8/95)
This heron posed for me right on the towpath of the Delaware Canal. He is used to people as the path is frequented by joggers, bikers and fisherman.
